Fast Trax Wax Preliminary Recommendation

Drayton Valley AB Cup 3/4

Event information:

Saturday -  Mass start, skate distance
Sunday - Individual start, classic distance

Weather:

Saturday -  Forecast morning lows range from -16 to -20. Forecast daytime highs range from -11 to -15. No precipitation in the forecast.

Sunday - Forecast morning lows range from -16 to -18. Forecast daytime highs range from -11 to -15. Flurries in the forecast, 60% chance, relatively low accumulations.

Recommendation:

It is our understanding that the coaches have a gentleman's agreement to use only LF waxes at this AB Cup. Our wax recommendation will take this agreement into account.

Base layer - Ski*Go C380 or Solda S30
Race Paraffin - Ski*Go LF green or Swix LF 4

Discussion:

Due to the extremely cold conditions leading up the race and on the race weekend, hardening the bases is going to be of primary importance and will make a dramatic difference in ski speed. Both the Ski*Go and Swix LF green waxes are safe and should run well on both Saturday and Sunday. If possible, allow the race paraffin to stay on the skis overnight before scraping and brushing.

Ensure that the skis are brushed and polished extremely well to remove all traces of wax residue. We strongly recommend the use of an ultra fine metal brush in these conditions.

We would suggest starting with the base layer when convenient. Check back on Thursday for a final race paraffin recommendation.
